Melania rips report she didn’t want to be first lady

First lady Melania Trump on Monday ripped a report in which a longtime friend told Vanity Fair that she didn’t want to be the first lady “come hell or high water.”

“Once again part of the liberal media, this time Vanity Fair, has written a story riddled with unnamed sources and false assertions. As a magazine tailored to women it is shameful that they continue to write salacious and false stories meant to demean Mrs. Trump, rather than focus on her positive work as First Lady as a supportive wife and mother,” a spokeswoman for Trump said in a statement to CNN.

“As has been stated on the record many times before, she is honored by her role,” the spokeswoman added.

In a Vanity Fair report published Sunday, the unnamed friend told the magazine that being first lady isn’t something Melania wanted and isn’t something that she expected to happen.

Former campaign adviser to President Trump, Roger Stone, told the magazine that Melania helped push her husband into the 2016 presidential race.

Melania Trump declined to be interviewed for the Vanity Fair piece.
