Mueller hasn’t asked for interview with Pence in Russia probe: report

FBI investigators have reportedly not requested to hold an interview with Vice President Pence in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian election interference.

A person familiar with the matter told NBC News that an interview had not been requested, but added that Pence would cooperate.

“Our position has always been that if asked we’ll cooperate,” the source told NBC.

{mosads}Another person familiar with the matter told the network that Mueller hasn’t shown an interest in holding an interview with the vice president.

The Hill has reached out to Pence’s spokesperson for comment.

Multiple reports published earlier this week said Mueller is likely to interview President Trump in the coming weeks as part of the investigation into Russian election interference and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

NBC News reported that Trump’s lawyers have talked about potential formats in the case that Mueller asks to interview Trump.

On Wednesday Trump said it is “unlikely” he will have a sit down with Mueller, arguing there was “no collusion” between his campaign and Russia.

“We’ll see what happens,” Trump said when asked Wednesday by a reporter. “When they have no collusion … it seems unlikely that you’d even have an interview.”

The president had previously indicated he was open to speaking with Mueller.
