President Trump’s recent use of Air Force One to fly to his various properties and campaign rallies have cost taxpayers nearly $3.2 million since June, according to documents obtained by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

Documents obtained by the conservative group Judicial Watch reveal that President Trump’s travel costs for various trips to his Bedminster, N.J., golf club, resorts in Florida and New York, and campaign rallies have cost $3,199,188 since June 30, bringing the total cost of Trump’s travel so far as president up to $13,533,937.

“The president is accountable to the taxpayers — they spend our hard-earned dollars and that’s why Judicial Watch keeps track of certain travel costs,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton in a press release. “Trump’s regular trips to his homes are adding up to a hefty sum.”

In contrast, former President Obama’s travel costs during his last fiscal year in office totaled just $882,756, according to Judicial Watch.

Nearly half of the almost $3.2 million spent by Trump since the end of June was incurred by a trip to Yuma, Ariz., during which the president spoke with Marines before attending a campaign rally. The travel expenditures for that trip alone amounted to $1,509,228.

Trump has spent 121 days of his presidency at his personal properties, according to an NBC News tracker, equaling roughly a third of his presidency so far.

Before taking office, Trump frequently criticized his predecessor for spending too much time golfing or other vacation activities.

“The problem with the president, he’s played more than people on the PGA Tour,” Trump said in 2015. “He plays a lot. He’s like a touring professional in terms of the amount of play.”
