Illinois candidate will ‘definitely’ get high if he wins congressional race
A candidate from Illinois who supports legalizing recreational marijuana said he would “definitely” get high if he wins his congressional race.
During an interview on “Fox & Friends,” Benjamin Thomas Wolf, a progressive candidate running for Congress in the state’s 5th District, was asked: “If you win, will you get high?”
“Definitely,” he responded.
{mosads}The comments come after Wolf released a new campaign photo earlier this week that features him sitting in front of an American flag with a smoldering joint in his hand.
Wolf brands himself as a “Cannabis Candidate” on his website and urges voters to support his legalization efforts in the March 20 election.
During the interview on Fox, Wolf said he thinks it’s important that the country start talking about “legalizing cannabis.”
He said using cannabis is a “routine part” of his life. He clarified that he doesn’t think anyone under the age of 18 or “possibly even 21 should be using cannabis.”
“I think it’s important that people look at all the facts and vote the way they feel is important,” he said during the interview.
Wolf, a former FBI employee, is challenging incumbent Rep. Mike Quigley (D). Quigley, who ran unopposed in the last three Democratic primaries, has a huge advantage in campaign funding and is considered a solid frontrunner in the race.
