Trump asking Hope Hicks who should replace her at White House: report
President Trump is reportedly asking outgoing communications director Hope Hicks for input about who her successor should be, but has not yet made a decision.
Trump has asked Hicks — whose final day at the White House has not been set — who he should pick and reportedly favors members of his original campaign team, while chief of staff John Kelly is reportedly trying to look for potential replacements from outside the White House, according to Politico.
According to multiple officials who spoke with Politico, the top contenders for the position are Mercedes Schlapp, the White House director of strategic communications and Tony Sayegh, the assistant secretary for public affairs at the Treasury Department.

Both officials have said they are interested in being communications director.
The White House has seen a large number of people leave, most recently senior economic adviser Gary Cohn, who left shortly after Trump announced new steel and aluminum tariffs.
