Kudlow jokes he’s ‘gotta beat’ Scaramucci’s White House tenure

President Trump’s new top economic adviser Larry Kudlow joked Friday that he’s “gotta beat” former communications director Anthony Scaramucci’s 11-day tenure in the White House.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Kudlow declined to say when President Trump first decided to propose additional tariffs on China, saying he has only been on the job for five days.

A reporter then mentioned Scaramucci’s famously tumultuous, yet brief, stint in the West Wing.

“He was what, 11 days? Ten-and-a-half?” Kudlow said. “I gotta beat that. He’s a pal of mine, but I gotta beat that.”

Scaramucci was fired last summer, just over a week after his start date, after he delivered a profane rant to a reporter against former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and top strategist Stephen Bannon.

Afterward, some White House aides reportedly took to calling a remarkably short period of time a “Mooch.”

Kudlow and Scaramucci both have Wall Street experience. The former communications chief used to run the investment firm SkyBridge Capital and Kudlow worked in the banking industry before becoming a media figure.
