More than half of polled U.S. voters say President Trump is making the world less safe, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

Of the 1,193 registered voters surveyed between April 20-24, 55 percent said Trump is making the world “less safe,” compared to 37 percent who said the opposite.

Trump received low marks among respondents for his handling of Russia and China, but the president fared slightly better in public perception of his policies concerning North Korea and Syria. Thirty-six percent approve of Trump’s policies toward Russia, while 42 percent approve of his handling of China.

Two-thirds of respondents said they supported Trump’s plan to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, but were split on whether they thought the president was prepared to negotiate with his counterpart.

Voters are also divided on Trump’s policy toward Syria. Forty-four percent of respondents approved of Trump’s actions, while 46 percent say they disapprove of the president’s policy in Syria.

“These two areas seem to be the exception to the rule that has kept President Trump’s popularity in the dumpster for his entire presidency,” Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll, said.
