Conway: Some White House leakers are senior officials

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said on Thursday that senior-level officials are responsible for some of the leaks coming out of the Trump administration.

“They’re not all in the press and comms shop,” Conway said on Fox News. “And they’re not all junior folks. I mean, let’s be very honest here. Hundreds and hundreds of people work on this complex. A lot of people have access to sensitive information.”

{mosads}Conway appeared on the network’s “Fox & Friends” following a series of high-profile leaks that came out of the White House last week, including a communications staffer’s derisive comment about Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) brain cancer diagnosis made in a closed-door session.

On Monday, Conway said she was expecting a staff shakeup following the leaks from the internal meeting.

Conway suggested that the White House may need to shrink the size of meetings to prevent leaks.

“I think smaller, tighter meetings are always a better idea,” Conway said. “You’re just telling people on need-to-know basis.”

The Hill first reported last week that special assistant Kelly Sadler brushed off McCain’s criticism of Trump’s nominee for CIA director, Gina Haspel, by saying “it doesn’t matter” because “he’s dying anyway.”

On Friday, sources leaked to ABC News that White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was furious over the leaks.

“I am sure this conversation is going to leak, too. And that’s just disgusting,” she said, according to a report by Axios on Saturday.
