Rudy Giuliani reportedly said on Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller’s team is trying to frame President Trump.

Giuliani said at an event in Israel that Mueller has a group of investigators that includes “13 highly partisan Democrats … (who) are trying very very hard to frame him to get him in trouble when he hasn’t done anything wrong,” according to The Associated Press.

Giuliani, who recently joined Trump’s legal team, also reiterated a comment he made over the weekend that the president has the power to pardon himself but won’t do so because he is innocent, the AP reported.

On Sunday, Giuliani told ABC’s “This Week” that Trump had “no intention” to pardon himself. In a separate interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Giuliani said that such a pardon would be “unthinkable” and would lead to Trump’s impeachment.

Trump tweeted on Monday that he has the “absolute right” to pardon himself, but wouldn’t do so because he hasn’t done anything wrong.

The president also went after Mueller’s team, which is investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election, including possible collusion between Trump’s campaign and Moscow. He said it is “led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats.”
