Trump blasts Mueller probe for bias

President Trump on Thursday assailed special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigative team for bias, calling for the group’s “many conflicts of interest” to be made public.

“When and where will all of the many conflicts of interest be listed by the 13 Angry Democrats (plus) working on the Witch Hunt Hoax. There has never been a group of people on a case so biased or conflicted. It is all a Democrat Excuse for LOSING the Election. Where is the server?” Trump tweeted, apparently referring to 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of State.

Mueller is leading an investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign.

The president has recently taken to labeling Mueller’s team as a collection of “13 angry Democrats” despite the fact that Mueller is a Republican.

He has frequently bashed the special counsel investigation as a “witch hunt” and a “hoax.” Trump has also levied broader attacks on the Justice Department and FBI for bias against his campaign.

Trump has recently spread the theory that the FBI embedded a spy in his campaign. He has, without evidence, suggested it was done by the Obama administration for political purposes and dubbed the matter “spygate.”

Republican lawmakers who saw classified material on the FBI informant said they did not see evidence to support Trump’s claims.

The president and his allies have also seized on anti-Trump text messages exchanged between two FBI officials, one of whom was fired from his role on the Mueller probe.

Four former Trump associates have pleaded guilty or been indicted in Mueller’s probe thus far. The special counsel also filed charges against 13 Russians and three Russian entities for alleged meddling in the 2016 election.
