Trump: ‘Fake news’ tried to ‘disparage’ a ‘great’ meeting with Putin
President Trump said in a tweet early Sunday that he had a “great” meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, adding that “fake news” has worked to “disparage” it.
“I had a GREAT meeting with Putin and the Fake News used every bit of their energy to try and disparage it,” he said. “So bad for our country!”

{mosads}Trump was roundly criticized for his performance at a press conference last Monday alongside Putin in Helsinki during which he appeared to embrace Putin’s denial of election meddling and said the U.S. shared blame for tense relations between Washington and Moscow.
The president and his staff later attempted to walk back and clarify his comments.
Trump last week also blasted coverage of the summit, calling the “fake news media” the “real enemy of the people.”
“The Summit with Russia was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media,” he tweeted.
Trump also said in a tweet last week that the “fake news media” was going “crazy” and making up stories without any “backup, sources or proof.”
