Russian Embassy trolls Trump campaign with its own ‘Space Force’ logo

The Russian Embassy in the United States appeared to troll President Trump’s campaign for unveiling logos for the new “Space Force” with logos of their own.

“Good morning, Space Forces!” the Embassy tweeted Friday morning, including a graphic of a rocket and the Russian flag.

The image modifies the existing flag for the Russian Space Forces into a Trump-style logo.

The tweet also links to the Russian Ministry of Defense’s own Space Forces website.

The Russian Space Forces, a branch of the Russian Aerospace Forces, is a military group for space operations that develops military and integrated satellite systems.

The jab from the embassy came a day after Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign asked supporters in an email to vote on one of six logos that could be displayed on future Space Force merchandise.

When users select their favorite logo, they are directed to a page to make a donation to the Trump campaign.

Trump, in June, directed the Pentagon to “immediately begin the process necessary to establish a Space Force as the sixth branch of the armed forces.”

The Department of Defense released a report on Thursday that outlined the plans to establish the new military brach by 2020.

The U.S. military already has a Space Command under the Air Force, headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., but the new Space Force would unify activities and 30,000 employees.

In a speech Thursday, Vice President Pence detailed the first steps to establish the Space Force and called for it to be ready by 2020.

Pence said Russia, China, North Korea and Iran for years “have pursued weapons to jam, blind and disable our navigation and communication satellites via electronic attacks from the ground.”

He also said those countries “have been working to bring new weapons of war into space itself.”
