Trump blasts FBI, DOJ over Strzok-Page ‘Media Leak Strategy’

President Trump on Tuesday lashed out at the Department of Justice and the FBI over texts that he says reveal a “media leak strategy” to undermine his administration.

{mosads}His tweet seems to be referencing a Fox Business segment on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” that discussed texts between former FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page.

“New Strzok-Page texts reveal ‘Media Leak Strategy,'” Trump tweeted early Monday morning. “@FoxNews So terrible, and NOTHING is being done at DOJ or FBI – but the world is watching, and they get it completely.”

The president had earlier also tweeted a quote from the show’s host Lou Dobbs, who during the segment said there is “nothing to show collusion between President Trump and Russia.”

Dobbs had Fox News contributor Sara Carter on his show Monday night for a segment to discuss a letter sent by Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

In the letter, Meadows, a Trump ally and frequent critic of the FBI, is accusing government officials of conspiring to leak damaging information to the press in order to hurt the president.

Meadows, the chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, in the letter, said that Strzok and Page discussed a specific media-leak strategy related to Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

He accuses Strzok and Page of discussing a media leak the day before The Washington Post reported that the FBI was monitoring Page’s communications.

Republicans have often used Strzok’s and Page’s texts to allege corruption and an anti-Trump bias within the FBI and Justice Department.

Trump often targets Strzok, who was fired earlier this summer over his texts criticizing political figures, for his role in the texts.
