Trump: ‘I don’t call it tweeting. I call it social media’

President Trump said Wednesday that no one in the White House has attempted to take away his phone to prevent him from using Twitter, adding that he doesn’t consider what he does tweeting.

“It’s social media. I don’t call it tweeting,” Trump said in an interview with Fox Business. “I call it social media.”

{mosads}The president also said he engages in social media because there is “so much misinformation being put out.”

“That’s my only form of communicating, really, other than having a press conference every hour,” Trump said.

Trump is known for his critical tweets, often directed at his opponents and in defense of his policies. On Tuesday, he tweeted more than 10 times to attack people such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), a potential 2020 challenger, and adult-film star Stormy Daniels, who has sued the president.

Trump called Daniels “Horseface” in a tweet, prompting criticism from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers.

Trump’s tweets have reportedly caused issues inside the White House. Veteran journalist Bob Woodward noted wrote in his recent book, “Fear: Trump in the White House,” that top officials, including former communications director Hope Hicks, tried unsuccessfully to persuade Trump to have his tweets fact-checked before publishing them.

First lady Melania Trump joked earlier this month that she has asked the president to put his phone down.

“I don’t always agree with what he tweets, and I tell him that,” she told reporters in Egypt during her tour of Africa. “Sometimes he listens and sometimes he doesn’t.”
