Top Trump economic advisor Larry Kudlow said Wednesday that a colleague of his in the White House referred to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “that little punk kid running Canada,” according to The Washington Examiner.

Kudlow made the comment on Wednesday night, while discussing the Trump administration’s efforts on the economy and its aggressive stance in trade negotiations, the Examiner reported.

“A friend of mine in the White House, who will go unnamed, said, ‘You know, I know why you’re supporting this deal Larry, it’s because we made a deal. We didn’t walk away, we didn’t end it, we made a deal. Alright? ‘Spite that little punk kid running Canada, we still made it,’” Kudlow said, referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“And I’ve had some wonderful run-ins with him.”

Kudlow did not name the official and it was unclear where the economic advisor had made the remarks.

The White House did not immediately reply to a request for comment from The Hill.

{mosads} President Trump has had a tense relationship with Trudeau and earlier this summer called the progressive Prime Minister “very dishonest & weak.”

Canada and the U.S. reached a deal on September 30 on an updated North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) after days of furious negotiations between Washington and Ottawa.
