President Trump will speak at the headquarters of the Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday, sources said.
Sources said the event is expected to focus on drug pricing but it is possible other health care issues could come up as well.
There is expected to be an announcement of some kind, though it is not clear what it will be.
Fighting high drug prices has been a focus for Trump, who has railed against drug companies for their high prices.
His administration rolled out a series of actions on the topic, including a move earlier this month to force drug companies to disclose prices for drugs in TV ads.
Democrats praised that move, but have also called for stronger action on the topic, such as allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices.
Trump is also trying to fight off Democratic attacks in the midterm campaign on GOP ObamaCare repeal votes and pre-existing conditions, though that is not expected to be the focus of Thursday’s speech, sources said.
