Conway: Trump has been ‘great friend’ to Israel, Jewish people worldwide

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Monday defended the president against allegations that his opposition to globalism has anti-Semitic connotations.

“This president has been a great friend to Israel, to Jewish people worldwide,” Conway said on CNN. “Also when he says he’s a nationalist, he explained what that means, it means America first.”

“[Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu said President Trump is the best friend to the state of Israel,” she added.

{mosads}When asked if Trump should disavow anti-Semitism and differentiate his nationalist statements from hate toward Jewish people, Conway replied that he had.

“He said it many many times just in the course of his Saturday remarks,” Conway said, referencing statements the president made following a shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue that left 11 dead.

Trump condemned Saturday’s attack, which the Anti-Defamation League has said was likely the worst attack on Jewish people in U.S. history.

“This evil anti-Semitic attack is an assault on all of us, it is an assault on humanity,” he said. “It will require all of us working together to extract the hateful poison of anti-Semitism from our world.”
