Stephen Colbert mocks Trump for criticism he received from retired Navy admiral: ‘You just got SEAL Team dissed’

Late-night host Stephen Colbert on Monday mocked President Trump for criticizing the former Navy admiral who oversaw the operation that killed Osama bin Laden.

“Wait a second, hear me out here. They only killed him once, if it was up to me, I would’ve killed him many more times,” Colbert said as he did an impression of Trump.

“Frankly, much deader.”

{mosads}His impression of the president came just a day after Trump, during an interview with Fox News, dismissed William McRaven, an outspoken critic of the president, as a “Hillary Clinton fan” and questioned why the U.S. took so long to find bin Laden.

Colbert went on to discuss McRaven’s quick response to Trump’s criticism. In a statement, McRaven said that he never supported Clinton during the 2016 presidential election and that he admires all presidents who “uphold the dignity of the office.”

In addition, McRaven said Trump’s attacks against the press presented the greatest threat to U.S. democracy in his lifetime.

“Ah snap, you just got SEAL Team dissed,” Colbert, who has repeatedly criticized Trump during his presidency, said.

Trump defended his criticism of the raid on Monday, tweeting that the U.S. “should have captured Osama Bin Laden long before we did.”

His comments led to swift backlash from U.S. officials. Retired Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, for example, called them “disgusting” and retired Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey said Trump acted like “an eighth grader” by going after McRaven.
