Trump predicts he’ll ‘never’ get the Nobel Peace Prize

President Trump predicted in an interview published Wednesday that he will “never” win the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Well, they’ll never give it to me,” Trump told The New York Post, remarking on why he does not think he will be awarded the prize for his work with North Korea.

{mosads}Trump was at the center of chatter earlier this year about whether he deserved the prize, with Trump supporters and even the president of South Korea saying that getting North Korea to denuclearize and end the Korean War would be an achievement worthy of the honor.

“I just think that President Moon [Jae-in] was very nice when he suggested it,” Trump said in May when asked about his Nobel prospects. “I want to get peace. The main thing, we want to get peace. It was a big problem, and I think it’s going to work out well.”

The president has touted his work with North Korea since he met with the country’s leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore this summer.

Trump said last month that he would meet with Kim for a second summit after the November elections.

Some recent reports have said that the president has grown frustrated with the lack of progress toward Pyongyang’s denuclearization since their first summit in June.

North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho said near the end of September that the country will not give up its nuclear capabilities until it has “trust in the U.S.“

Two weeks ago, Kim made an appearance to oversee North Korea’s test of a new unspecified weapon.

The Post noted that Trump this week also remarked about his time hosting “The Apprentice” while discussing whether he would win the Nobel Peace Prize.

“We should have gotten the Emmy for ‘The Apprentice,’ you know?” he said.

Trump also went after former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R), who succeeded him as host of the NBC show last year.

“I had the No. 1 show, ‘The Apprentice,’ ” Trump said. “Arnold Schwarzenegger blew it. Big movie star. It was dead in two nights. I had it for 14 seasons.”
