Trump says Giuliani is ready to counter Mueller

President Trump on Friday pushed back on suggestions that his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani is not prepared to release a “counterreport” on special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

“It has been incorrectly reported that Rudy Giuliani and others will not be doing a counter to the Mueller Report. That is Fake News. Already 87 pages done, but obviously cannot complete until we see the final Witch Hunt Report,” Trump tweeted.

{mosads}The president appeared to be responding to a report in The Atlantic saying the White House is ill-prepared to confront Mueller’s findings.

Giuliani told the story’s author that it has been difficult to devote attention to drafting the “counterreport” that he first floated over the summer, citing the lengthy process of responding to Mueller’s questions for the president.

“Answering those questions was a nightmare,” Giuliani said. “It took him about three weeks to do what would normally take two days.”

Giuliani previously told the Daily Beast in August that he had completed 58 pages of the report and the second half had not been completed yet.

Trump’s comments come on an important day for the Mueller probe, on which he is expected to file key documents related to the cases of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and former personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

Trump blasted the probe in a barrage of tweets earlier Friday morning.
