Trump denies ‘tantrum’ in meeting with Pelosi: ‘It is all such a lie!’

President Trump took to Twitter Wednesday night to deny Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) characterization of his exit from a meeting with Democratic leadership earlier in the day.

“In a letter to her House colleagues, Nancy Pelosi said: ‘President Trump had a temper tantrum for us all to see.’ This is not true. I was purposely very polite and calm, much as I was minutes later with the press in the Rose Garden. Can be easily proven. It is all such a lie!” Trump tweeted.

{mosads}Trump left the meeting, which had been scheduled to discuss a potential infrastructure package, to hold an unscheduled press briefing in the Rose Garden, where he fired back at Pelosi for saying he had engaged in a “cover-up” and vowed not to work with Democrats on infrastructure legislation while they were investigating his administration and businesses.

“Sadly, the only job the President seems to be concerned with is his own. He threatened to stop working with Democrats on all legislation unless we end oversight of his Administration and he had a temper tantrum for us all to see,” Pelosi wrote afterwards.

In the same letter, Pelosi pledged that House committee leaders’ work on individual infrastructure bills would continue even if Trump refused to resume talks on a larger trillion-dollar package that Trump and Democratic leaders tentatively agreed to pursue during a meeting in late April.

“Our outstanding Committee Chairs will continue to work relentlessly on bold, transformative infrastructure solutions that will create good-paying jobs, regardless of the president’s behavior,” she wrote.
