D-Day veteran meeting Melania Trump: ‘If I was 20 years younger’

A 93-year-old British D-Day veteran was caught flirting with first lady Melania Trump on Wednesday.

President Trump introduced Thomas Cuthbert to his wife, 49, during an event commemorating the 75th anniversary of the invasion in Normandy, France, according to the The Sun.

“Oh, she is a nice lady, isn’t she?” Cuthbert, from Elmstead Market, England, said after shaking Melania Trump’s hand. “If it wasn’t for you and if I was 20 years younger.”{mosads}

The 72-year-old president chimed in with a smile: “He could handle it, there’s not a question about it.”

Cuthbert told The Sun that the president “came across very well” in their meeting.

“He surprised me, when you see someone on the TV — but he seemed different, he seemed one of the boys,” Cuthbert said.

“His wife was very pleasant as well,” he added.

Cuthbert was awarded the Legion D’Honneur in May 2017 for his role in the D-Day landings, during which he served on a landing barge oiler anchored offshore from Utah and Omaha beaches, the U.K.’s Metro News reported.

The Trump joined French President Emmanuel Macron and other world leaders to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the invasion.

“To more than 170 veterans of the Second World War who join us today, you are among the very greatest Americans who will ever live,” Trump said.

“You are the pride of our nation. You are the glory of our republic,” he added. “And we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
