#UnwantedIvanka trends after Ivanka Trump’s G-20 appearance
Social media users are editing White House adviser and President Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump into iconic photos using the hashtag “#UnwantedIvanka” after she was seen in a viral video trying to make conversation with leaders at the Group of 20 (G-20) meeting last weekend.
The clip, released by the French presidential palace, appeared to show Ivanka Trump jumping into a conversation involving French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Theresa May and International Monetary Fund Chairwoman Christine Lagarde.
After the moment was described by many as awkward, social media users began editing pictures to add the businesswoman to historic and iconic moments including the D-Day invasion, the Beatles crossing Abbey Road and the first moon landing.
Somebody please photoshop Ivanka the unwelcome interloper boxing way above her weight into the following:
– Megan Rapinoe’s goal celebration
– Nixon-Elvis meeting
– Beyoncé’s Coachella performance
– Curies’ lab
– constitutional convention

{mosads}The viral video sparked conversation about Ivanka Trump’s role within her father’s administration and gained some pushback, including from members of Congress.
“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) tweeted on Sunday. “It hurts our diplomatic standing when the President phones it in & the world moves on.”
“The US needs our President working the G20. Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either,” she added.

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) tweeted that he “would like to hear Ivanka Trump’s explanation about this video” before noting that she has blocked him on the social media platform.
Ivanka Trump has attended the last two G-20 summits and said on Twitter that she was invited by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to participate in the Women’s Empowerment event.
Thank you Prime Minister Abe for inviting me to join you for a conversation on women’s economic empowerment & putting this at the heart of the #G20OsakaSummit agenda. I look forward to collaboration with our international partners on #WGDP!

“It is sad but not shocking that the haters choose to attack Ivanka Trump, a senior advisor to the President, when she is promoting U.S. efforts to empower women through strategic partnerships with world leaders. The G20 and ROK visits were substantive and historic. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership our country is more prosperous and secure,” Jessica Ditto, deputy White House communications director, said in a statement to The Hill.
