President Trump on Monday offered condolences to the victims of a deadly shooting in Northern California.
Speaking at a signing ceremony for a victims compensation bill for 9/11 first responders, Trump said the nation was grieving and praying for all those affected by the “horrific” shooting carried out by a “wicked murderer.”
{mosads}“We reaffirm our nation will to answer violence with the courage, determination and resolve of one American family,” Trump said in the White House Rose Garden. “We will continue to work together as communities and as citizens to stop evil, prevent violence and protect the safety of all Americans.”
At least three people were killed, including a 6-year-old boy, and at least a dozen others were wounded when a gunman opened fire at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. The suspected gunman was reportedly wearing tactical gear and carried a long rifle.
Trump made no reference to the nation’s gun laws, but thanked police officers who shot and killed the suspect.
“We thank the brave members of law enforcement — they never let us down — who swiftly killed the shooter,” he said.
