Pompeo took part in Trump-Zelensky call: report

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo took part in the phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that led to last week’s impeachment inquiry launched by House Democrats, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

A senior State Department official told the Journal that Pompeo was among the administration officials who listened in on the call.

According to a partial transcript of the call released by the White House last week, Trump pressed Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

The call was referenced by a whistleblower complaint that alleges Trump pressured Ukraine’s leader to investigate Biden.

House Democrats have launched an impeachment inquiry and have subpoenaed Pompeo for documents related to the inquiry.

He has until Oct. 4 to produce the documents.

The whistleblower’s complaint, which was released Thursday, alleged that there were approximately a dozen officials in the room during the phone call between Trump and Zelensky.
