Jill Biden criss-crosses Atlantic to attend day 5 of Hunter Biden trial

Jill Biden arrived Friday morning at the Delaware courthouse where her step-son, Hunter Biden, is on trial after she skipped one day of the trial for a quick trip to France.

The first lady was in France on Thursday for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, joining President Biden for his speech at the official ceremony and to meet with veterans.

She is expected to be back in France on Saturday to join Biden for an official state visit with President Emmanuel Macron and first lady Brigitte Macron.

Between trips across the Atlantic, she was in Wilmington for the start of day 5 of the trial. President Biden has not attended the trial and is not expected to.

Hunter Biden, 54, is facing charges for lying on a federal form when he bought a gun in 2018. He wrote on the form that he was not a drug user, despite being addicted to cocaine at the time.

Hallie Biden, the widow of Hunter’s brother Beau Biden who had a romantic relationship with Hunter Biden, testified on Thursday and focused largely on the younger Biden’s drug use.

Hunter Biden’s ex-wife Kathleen Buhle has also testified, telling prosecutors that she realized he was using crack when she found a crack pipe in an ashtray in 2015.
