READ: White House letter refusing to participate in impeachment hearings
The White House on Friday sent a letter to the House Judiciary Committee signaling President Trump would not cooperate with the committee’s impeachment probe.
“House Democrats have wasted enough of America’s time with this charade,” White House counsel Pat Cipollone wrote in a letter to the Democratic chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.).
The Judiciary committee is handling the next phase of the impeachment probe, beginning this week after hearings concluded in the House Intelligence Committee. Democrats had given the White House a 5 p.m. deadline on Friday to let the committee know whether Trump would cooperate in the ongoing process.
The White House letter also blasts House Democrats for moving forward with articles of impeachment, as Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced this week, without “a single shred of evidence.”
