President Trump reviewed Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday, saying she “wasn’t bad.”
The president said on Twitter that he watched the show to “see what Nancy Pelosi had to say, & what moves she was planning to further hurt our Country.”
“Actually, other than her usual complaining that I’m a terrible person, she wasn’t bad. Still praying!” he said.
Pelosi discussed the coronavirus epidemic and what she thinks the president should do during a discussion with co-host Joe Scarborough earlier Tuesday morning.
“I would say to the president, immediately implement the Defense Production Act, insisting that businesses in our country turn to producing the equipment that we need. … It will save lives,” she said on the show.
Trump on Monday lashed out at Pelosi for criticizing his response to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s a sad thing,” Trump said during a call with “Fox & Friends.” “She’s a sick puppy in my opinion. She’s got a lot of problems.”
Pelosi on Sunday accused Trump of downplaying the public health crisis, telling CNN that “his denial at the beginning was deadly.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a vocal Trump supporter, said Pelosi’s comment was the “most shameful, disgusting statement by any politician in modern history.”
Scarborough on Tuesday responded to Trump in a tweet, thanking him for watching and saying he remains in “our prayers” despite their disagreements.
“Please stay the course by following the advice of your doctors and scientists,” he posted. “That decision on Sunday was an important shift in your approach. Though we disagree on many issues and your approach to the presidency, you remain in our prayers.”
Trump on Sunday extended guidance on social distancing to April 30 after earlier saying he hoped to reopen the country by Easter.
