Kellyanne Conway slams husband’s anti-Trump PAC: ‘They all failed’ in electing a president

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Thursday slammed an anti-Trump super PAC co-founded by her husband, D.C. lawyer George Conway.

Kellyanne Conway echoed President Trump’s criticism of the conservative-led group, The Lincoln Project, saying that the strategists that run the group have all failed at electing a president.

“[They] never achieved what I achieved, which is success as a presidential campaign manager. They all failed,” Kellyanne Conway said in an interview with Fox News.

“They’ve never succeeded the way I did as campaign manager, and they never got their candidate where my candidate got. He’s president of the United States,” she added.

Trump lashed out at the group and its members in a series of tweets earlier this week, after The Lincoln Project released an ad targeting Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

After the president’s criticism, the group saw its biggest single-day fundraising haul yet, raking in $1 million.

Asked if the president would be better off ignoring the group and if he is risking losing moderate voters in his attacks, Kellyanne Conway said “mostly he does.”

“Once in a while he doesn’t,” she said, adding that the president wanted to “expose” the members on their track records.

Trump hit the members of The Lincoln Project as a “group of RINO Republicans who failed badly” at various elections.

Fox News host Harris Faulkner also quoted parts of George Conway’s Thursday op-ed in The Washington Post criticizing Trump. She prefaced her questions for Kellyanne Conway by saying “this is not about your husband, this is not about your marriage.”

“This is about that group. It just so happens that George Conway wrote this op-ed today,” she said.

But Kellyanne Conway insisted it “certainly is about my husband or you would’ve quoted other people in the group.”

In his tweets earlier this week, Trump invoked Kellyanne Conway and the Conways’ marriage in his attack on George Conway, a frequent Trump critic.

“I don’t know what Kellyanne did to her deranged loser of a husband, Moonface, but it must have been really bad,” Trump tweeted.

The Lincoln Project’s ad titled “Mourning in America” plays off former President Reagan’s 1984 ad titled “Morning in America.”

The narrator of the anti-Trump ad said the country is “weaker and sicker and poorer” under Trump’s leadership.
