Vice President Pence on Wednesday named a new press secretary, Devin O’Malley, and promoted his current press secretary, Katie Miller, to communications director.

O’Malley had been detailed to the White House from the Treasury Department to work on communications for the White House coronavirus task force, which Pence has led since February.

Miller, who recently returned to work after recovering from the novel coronavirus, was brought on as Pence’s press secretary in September. Miller, who is married to Trump senior adviser Stephen Miller, previously worked in communications posts for Sen. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) and the Department of Homeland Security under the Trump administration.

The changes were announced among a series of other additions to the vice president’s office staff. Pence also announced a new deputy press secretary, digital director, research director, regional media director and press assistant.

President Trump’s communications team has also undergone a transformation in recent weeks.

In April, the president tapped campaign spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany to replace Stephanie Grisham as White House press secretary and added Alyssa Farah and Ben Williamson to the communications office as part of a shuffle following the arrival of former Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) as chief of staff.
