The 2024 World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday visited the White House, where President Trump congratulated the organization on its eighth championship.

The Dodgers beat the New York Yankees in five games in last year’s World Series. It was the 12th time the teams had met in the World Series. And it was the Dodgers’ fourth trip to the Series in eight years.

The tradition of sports teams visiting the White House dates to 1865, when President Andrew Johnson welcomed two amateur clubs. In 1869, President Grant welcomed the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds.
