A video of Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.) was projected onto the side of the Interior Department building in support of her nomination as secretary of the Interior.

The photo of Haaland depicted her garbed in traditional Pueblo clothing along with the hashtag #DEBFORINTERIOR.

The IllumiNative and the Native Organizers Alliance Action Fund projected the video, going live on Facebook to discuss it, calling for Haaland to be confirmed.

The group called for people to write or call their senators asking them to confirm Haaland.

If confirmed, Haaland would be the first Native-American Cabinet secretary in history.

Haaland’s Senate confirmation trial is set to begin on Tuesday during which she will acknowledge the importance of fossil fuels while also calling on the U.S. to work harder in addressing climate change, according to an advance copy of her testimony.

“There’s no question that fossil energy does and will continue to play a major role in America for years to come. I know how important oil and gas revenues are to fund critical services,” the testimony read. “But we must also recognize that the energy industry is innovating, and our climate challenge must be addressed.”

“The historic nature of my confirmation is not lost on me, but I will say that it is not about me,” Haaland plans to say. “Rather, I hope this nomination would be an inspiration for Americans — moving forward together as one nation and creating opportunities for all of us.”
