Amtrak releases new service map that would be funded by Biden’s infrastructure plan
Amtrak released a new map on Thursday that it said showed the new routes that would be funded if the White House’s $2.2 trillion infrastructure plan becomes law.
Amtrak stated that under the proposed plan, they could create more than 30 new routes connecting 160 more communities in the United States.
Cities such as Las Vegas; Nashville, Tenn.; Columbus, Ohio; Montgomery, Ala.; Macon, Ga.; and Phoenix that haven’t been connected to the railroad services before, would be connected under the plan.
Amtrak also said the proposed plan will be more energy efficient and bring more economic benefits to regions of the country.
In a statement shared with Business Insider, Amtrak CEO Bill Flynn said “President Biden’s infrastructure plan is what this nation has been waiting for. Amtrak must rebuild and improve the Northeast Corridor, our National Network and expand our service to more of America.”
“With this federal investment, Amtrak will create jobs and improve equity across cities, regions, and the entire country — and we are ready to deliver,” he added.
