Clinton reaches out to voters with text messages

Democratic presidential frontrunner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) is trying to conquer a campaigning frontier, reaching out to voters via text message. Soon, her supporters will be able to receive messages such as, “OMG, Hillary 4 president is so cool ;)” on their cell phones.

Her campaign announced Monday that the new technology takes Clinton’s commitment to reaching out to voters “to a whole new level.” The campaign noted that there are 236 million cell phone users in the U.S. and that 18.7 billion text messages were sent in December 2006.
