Josh Fox: ‘At that point, everyone really began drinking heavily’

Filmmaker Josh Fox said he woke up on Election Day “with a very bad feeling.”

“I felt very deeply that the Clinton campaign was out of touch,” said Fox, the director of the Oscar-nominated 2010 documentary “Gasland.”

Nonetheless, the environmental activist and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) surrogate-turned-Hillary Clinton supporter headed straight from filming his Standing Rock documentary, “Awake,” to his mother’s Manhattan apartment for an Italian food-filled election night party.

But quickly, “The feeling of the festivities, and having lasagna, turned to instant nausea.”

“What was a sort of a party turned into the feeling of a funeral. The darkest I’ve ever seen,” said the 45-year-old director.

“I think at that point everyone really began drinking heavily,” he recalled with a chuckle.

As he hopped into a cab in the early morning hours, Fox said “it felt like a completely different world overnight.”

“It just feels very much like we picked the wrong page on a choose-your-own-adventure book,” he said.
