Rep. Pete Olson (R-Texas) on Tuesday fended off an uphill challenge from Democrat Sri Preston Kulkarni.
Olson has held the Houston-area district since 2009. It was previously long held by former GOP House Majority Whip Tom DeLay.
Democrats hoped they could win over this suburban district that has also seen changing demographics. The district has a 60 percent population, according to the Dallas News.
Kulkarni is a former foreign service officer and staffer for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.).
