Michael Cohen, who served as former President Trump’s personal attorney, said in a new interview that he is considering a run for Congress.

Cohen told Semafor he is “interested” in running as a Democrat. Cohen added that he is currently living on the East Side of Manhattan, meaning he would potentially make a bid for New York’s 12th Congressional District seat, now held by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.).

“I am interested and there’s a multitude of folks encouraging me to run,” Cohen said in the interview.

Cohen pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations in 2018 linked to a payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels, who alleges she had an affair with Trump. In recent years, Cohen has turned into a critic of Trump, warning against his former boss’s tactics and actions

The payments to Daniels also resulted in an indictment against Trump in March in New York City. This indictment was the first of three the former president has faced in recent months.
