New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) is campaigning with former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley (R) in the Granite State on Thursday, campaigns for both confirmed to The Hill.

Sununu will campaign with Haley in Londonderry and Nashua. The joint campaigning comes more than a week after the New Hampshire governor campaigned with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in Londonderry, Epping, Newington and Rye.

Sununu was widely floated as a potential 2024 presidential candidate before announcing in June that he would not challenge former President Trump next fall. He announced the next month he would also not seek a fifth term as governor of the Granite State.

“As governor of the first-in-the-nation primary state, I will do everything I can to help narrow the field,” Sununu wrote in a New York Times op-ed in August. “I plan to endorse and campaign for the best alternative to Mr. Trump. As of now, it’s anyone’s for the taking.”

DeSantis has widely been viewed as Trump’s chief rival, but he has struggled to narrow the gap against the former president in national and local polling while Haley has shown some signs of momentum. Although DeSantis has largely polled in second place behind Trump in Iowa, a recent NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom survey found DeSantis and Haley tied for second behind Trump in the Hawkeye State.

Both candidates are struggling to overcome Trump’s lead in the 2024 GOP primary, however, even as the former president faces four separate indictments.
