Biden campaign brings in $1.6M in grassroots donations after Trump’s Iowa caucuses win

The Biden campaign raised more than $1.6 million in the 24 hours that followed former President Trump’s dominant victory in the Iowa caucuses this week.

“Folks, in 24 hours after Donald Trump won Iowa, our campaign raised more than $1.6 million from grassroots donors alone,” President Biden said in a video shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “Our campaign is nurses and teachers versus the extreme MAGA Republicans, and we need you with us. It’s time to get on board.”

Trump coasted to victory in Iowa on Monday, with news outlets declaring him the winner roughly 30 minutes after caucusing officially began. The former president ultimately won more than half the vote and won all but one county in the state.

Trump is leading in the polls in New Hampshire, which will hold its primary Tuesday, as well as several other early primary states, a sign the former president may ultimately cruise to the nomination barring a surprise victory from former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The Biden campaign and its allies have long maintained voters who are skeptical of Biden will rally behind the president once it is clear Trump is the Republican nominee, dismissing polling that shows Trump leading Biden in a hypothetical general election race.

The Biden campaign announced it raised more than $97 million in the fourth quarter of 2023 and has $117 million on hand.
