Former President Trump celebrated a Supreme Court ruling to restore him to the ballot in Colorado as a “Big win for America!!!” on Monday.

Trump reacted to the ruling with the four-word post on Truth Social, which was emailed out by his campaign.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, he called the decision “both unifying and inspirational,” and expressed hope the Supreme Court would rule in his favor in declaring he has immunity from facing prosecution in Washington, D.C. The court will hear arguments in the case in April.

“No president would be able to properly and effectively function without complete and total immunity,” Trump told Fox News Digital. “Our country would be put at great risk.”

“Today’s decision, especially the fact that it was unanimous, 9-0, is both unifying and inspirational for the people of the United States of America,” he added.

The Supreme Court unanimously ruled Monday that Colorado cannot disqualify Trump from the ballot under the 14th Amendment’s insurrection ban, effectively ending the long-shot effort.

The decision gave Trump and his allies a significant legal victory on the eve of Super Tuesday, when he is expected to win several primaries and nearly clinch the GOP nomination for November.

Voters and advocacy groups had filed dozens of challenges to Trump’s ballot eligibility in states across the country, claiming his actions surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack triggered his disqualification.

Trump and other Republicans had railed against the claims as an effort by liberals to undercut the ability for voters to choose their candidates.

2024 Election Coverage

“The effort to kick Donald Trump off of the ballot was pure election interference from the left, and the RNC was proud to fight in the Supreme Court alongside President Trump’s campaign and other Republican partners to preserve voters’ right to make their voices heard,” Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to fight and beat Democrats in court over the coming months.”

Trump still faces four criminal cases, including one in New York City set to go to trial later this month over an alleged hush money scheme during the 2016 campaign.
