Former President Trump is criticizing Democrats who want to pass an anti-insurrectionist law, saying “they’re real losers” who, in his view, should focus on bettering the country.

Trump was reacting to news of House Democrats preparing legislation in response to Monday’s unanimous decision by the Supreme Court that Trump’s name cannot be taken off a state ballot under the Constitution’s insurrection clause. The nine justices on the court agreed Congress has exclusive authority to enforce the 14th Amendment to disqualify candidates.

“Well, it’s the same losers,” Trump said during his Tuesday morning interview on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends” with anchors Brian Kilmeade and Lawrence Jones.

“They’re real losers. If they spent their time focusing on the country and making America great again, that would be a lot better than just wasting their time,” he said.

Trump’s remarks came in response to footage of Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) on CNN. Raskin said he and two other House Democrats, Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) and Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) are working to pass legislation that would put in place a process to decide if someone is disqualified from running for federal office due to the insurrection clause in the 14th Amendment.

The former president said he has been facing opposition from the same lawmakers for some time now and that they are part of a “sick” movement.

“I’ve been going through it for years, beating them for years,” Trump said. “And it’s the same voices, the same faces. They never stop. They don’t care about our country. I actually — I don’t think they love our country, frankly. They love themselves or their movement, and it’s a sick movement.”

Trump’s attorney Alina Habba praised the Supreme Court’s decision and said people should ignore the proposal laid out by Raskin.

“I think that we really need to, embrace today to try and remember who we are as a country, to ignore the noise that is people like that going on with Dana,” Habba said Monday during her appearance on Eric Bolling’s show “The Balance” on Newsmax.

Trump reiterated that his sights are on winning in November and slammed Biden again, calling him the worst commander in chief “ever.”

“And I’m — I’m just focused on winning an election,” Trump said. “We have to beat Biden. He’s the worst president in history.”
