Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) arrives for a Senate Republican Conference meeting on Thursday, February 8, 2024 to discuss the way forward on a clean supplemental bill to fund Israel, the Indo-Pacific and Ukraine.

Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) is projected to win her Republican primary, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Fischer is running for a third term in the upper chamber, and easily sailed through the GOP contest against farmer Arron Kowalski.

No Democrat is running against the Nebraska Republican but independent candidate Dan Osborn, a former labor union leader, is eyeing to take her on in the fall. There are also two candidates running under the Legal Marijuana Now Party who are battling each other in the primary to take on Fischer in the general.

Political strategists say it’s an uphill climb for Osborn given Fischer’s approval within the state and the headwinds of running as a nonpartisan.

The nonpartisan election handicapper Cook Political Report rates Fischer’s seat “solid Republican.”
