Trump wins New Mexico GOP primary

Former President Trump is seen as as he leaves the stage after addressing the Libertarian Convention in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 26, 2024.

Former President Trump won New Mexico’s GOP presidential primary Tuesday, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ.

New Mexico has 22 delegates up for grabs on the Republican side and is among one of the last states this week to hold its presidential contest.

Though Trump didn’t face any serious competition, political observers have been watching to see how much of the vote Trump rival Nikki Haley will receive in the last remaining presidential primaries after she made a surprise announcement last month that she would be voting for Trump over President Biden in November.

Before Haley’s announcement, a handful of states had seen sizable vote counts for Haley — raising questions around the whom those voters might back in the fall.
