Trump leading Biden in 2 key swing states: Polling
Former President Trump is leading President Biden in two key swing states, Nevada and Arizona, according to polling released late Thursday.
The Fox News polls found Trump leading Biden by 5 points, 50 percent to 45 percent, among registered voters in Nevada in a hypothetical match-up. Trump also topped Biden among registered voters in Arizona, 51 percent to 46 percent.
Trump visited Arizona on Thursday, stopping by a state he lost in 2020 after winning it in 2016.
Pollsters also found that majorities of registered voters in both states say the former president’s recent conviction in his New York hush money trial “does not matter,” at 65 percent in Nevada and 63 percent in Arizona.
Trump became the first former U.S. president to be convicted last week, when a jury found him guilty on all counts of falsifying business records to hide alleged affairs amid his 2016 campaign.
A recent recontact poll from The New York Times/Siena College found Trump’s lead over Biden slipping from 3 points to 1 point nationally following the hush money trial verdict.
Another Fox News poll released late Thursday found Biden and Trump tied in Virginia among registered voters, both at 48 percent. Democratic presidential candidates have won Virginia, which has historically been considered a swing state, since 2008.
The Fox News polls were conducted June 1-4 and featured 1,069 registered voters in Nevada, 1,095 registered voters in Arizona and 1,107 registered voters in Virginia. For all polls, the margin of error of 3 percentage points.
