Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) came out swinging against Vice President Harris at a rally in Virginia, where he warned she was a “million times worse” than President Biden.
“Now, history will remember Joe Biden as not just a quitter, which he is, but one of the worst presidents of the United States of America. But my friends, Kamala Harris is a million times worse, and everybody knows it,” Vance said just a few minutes into his rally in Radford, Va., on Monday.
Former President Trump announced last week that Vance would be his running mate in November’s election. Since then, the first-term senator has been thrust into the spotlight as he attempts to court voters.
Trump’s campaign and his allies have come out strong against Harris since Biden announced he was withdrawing from the race on Sunday. Biden went on to endorse Harris to be his replacement, and Democrats have rallied behind her as the party’s likely nominee.
The Virginia rally was Vance’s second campaign stop of the day on Monday. Earlier in the day he held a rally in his hometown of Middletown, Ohio, marking his first solo rally as Trump’s running mate. He joked at the Ohio rally that he was “pissed off” he was not going to get to debate Harris.
Vance continued to rail against Harris and accused her of supporting Biden’s “failures” and lying “about his mental capacity to serve as president.” He said that Biden’s record is the same as Harris’s while saying that neither of them are “fit to serve.”
“And while we’re on the subject of Joe Biden, can anybody just admit that if Joe Biden is not fit to run for president, he ain’t fit to serve as president of the United States either,” he said.
“If Kamala Harris is too blind or too corrupt to admit to the American people that Joe Biden should have never been in there, she’s not fit to serve either,” he continued.
Harris had warned against Vance ahead of the senator’s speech at the Republican National Convention last week, saying that he was a “rubber stamp” for an “extreme agenda.”
Harris 2024 spokesperson Joseph Costello said in a statement, “Extremist JD Vance is trying to distract from the fact that he is bought and paid for by Elon Musk and Silicon Valley, and has promised to raise taxes on working families and give handouts to corporations and billionaires.”
