Harris campaign: Vance ‘already a disaster’ as Trump VP pick

Vice President Harris’s campaign is dubbing Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) a “disaster” as former President Trump’s choice of a running mate, suggesting Trump could be soon be regretting his decision.

In an email with the subject line, “Buyer’s Remorse: Trump’s VP Pick Already a Disaster,” the Harris campaign highlighted that Vance has a net-negative rating, according to CNN, and that “he’s picking fights” with actress Jennifer Aniston, among others as fallout continues over controversial remarks that resurfaced in which he dubbed leading Democrats “childless cat ladies.”

Aniston knocked Vance this week after his 2021 interview with Tucker Carlson resurfaced. Vance included Harris and other female leaders in his assessment.

“JD Vance spent all week making headlines for his out-of-touch, weird ideas, including the Project 2025-endorsed plans to ban abortion nationwide. This week confirmed voters’ worst fears about what Trump and Vance will do if they’re elected. It’s only been 11 days, but voters know the Trump-Vance ticket is running to take America backwards and take away our freedoms — but as Vice President Harris has said, we will not go back,” Harris spokesperson Sarafina Chitika said.

Some House Republicans have also expressed concerns about Vance to The Hill, raising issues with Vance’s foreign policy positions, lack of experience and inability to expand the Republican coalition beyond Trump’s base.

Trump, meanwhile, hasn’t expressed any regrets. He has said he would “do the same pick” when questioned this week about his decision.

Harris was preparing to debate Vance when Trump announced his running mate last week. But, since then, President Biden dropped out of the 2024 race, and Harris is the likely Democratic nominee. She has not yet named her running mate but is expected to before Aug. 7.
