Trump campaign says it raised $139M in July
Former President Trump’s campaign raised nearly $139 million in July, it announced Thursday, following a tumultuous few weeks of the election season.
Trump and its authorized committees raised $138.7 million last month, which brings its total cash on hand to $327 million, the campaign announced. The announcement said the latest numbers “reflect continued momentum with donors at every level and provide the resources for the final 96 days until victory November 5th.”
July saw several major moments in Trump’s reelection campaign, as the former president survived an assassination attempt; formally accepted the GOP nomination at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wis.; and tapped Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate in an anticipated announcement during the convention.
The month’s fundraising numbers also follow the CNN debate between Trump and President Biden, whose poor performance led many Democrats to call on him to step aside from the race. Biden announced his decision to withdraw on July 21 and later endorsed Vice President Harris for the nomination.
Trump’s latest fundraising totals come as Harris’s campaign has gained momentum in its first two weeks.
Harris’s campaign said it raised $200 million in just the first week of her campaign as Democrats rallied behind her and enthusiasm grew among voters. Her campaign also said it signed up more than 170,000 volunteers in the first week.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s national polling average shows the former president with about a 1-point lead over Harris. Other national polls have shown Harris closing the gap between her and Trump since she kick-started her campaign last month.
