Harris raises roughly $500M in first month

Vice President Harris’s campaign raised nearly $500 million in her first month as a presidential candidate, a staggering haul that included contributions from more than 2 million donors.

A campaign official confirmed that Harris had raised close to the $500 million as of Wednesday. Reuters first reported the campaign had raised about that much since she entered the presidential race on July 21 following President Biden’s decision late last month to end his candidacy.

Bloomberg News reported that filings showed more than 2.4 million donors gave to the vice president in her first 11 days as the head of the ticket, which is close to 200,000 more than donated to Biden during his entire campaign.

The Harris campaign has repeatedly touted impressive fundraising marks since Harris became the candidate to take on former President Trump in November. It raised $81 million in the first 24 hours after she entered the race and raised a total of $200 million in the week after Biden dropped out.

The Harris campaign had raised another $36 million in the 24 hours after it announced Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) as her running mate.

Cash will be key for both parties entering the home stretch of what is expected to be a fiercely fought and expensive campaign.

The Harris campaign raised $310 million in July and had $377 million on hand, while the Trump campaign said it raised $139 million and had $327 million on hand.
