Harris campaign will stream convention speech on new Twitch channel

Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Harris speaks at the Hendrick Center for Automotive Excellence on the Scott Northern Wake Campus of Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh, N.C., on Aug. 16, 2024.

Vice President Harris’s campaign will stream her Democratic National Convention speech Thursday on a new Twitch channel.

“The VP’s address tonight will be one of the biggest moments of the entire campaign thus far — and we’re making sure we’re bringing her live to voters wherever they may be, Twitch included,” Harris campaign spokesperson Seth Schuster said in a Thursday statement.

“Our job as the campaign is to break through a historically personalized media landscape, taking the VP and her vision for the future directly to the hardest to reach voters and those who will decide this election,” Schuster continued.

Harris will deliver the final speech of this year’s convention. She has spurred a groundswell of energy and enthusiasm among Democrats as she has ascended to the top of the Democratic ticket after President Biden dropped out of the presidential race late last month.

The new Twitch channel, first reported on by Wired magazine, follows Harris also joining TikTok, two platforms often associated with Generation Z, a key demographic in what is expected to be a tight race with former President Trump.

Harris’s campaign has also capitalized on memes in its online messaging, including taking on the branding of Charli XCX’s popular album “Brat” for their account for the social platform X.
