Biden to campaign for Casey in Pennsylvania

President Biden will campaign next week for Sen. Bob Casey (D) in the swing state of Pennsylvania, the White House announced Friday.

The fundraising event, in the Philadelphia area, will be held Tuesday, after Biden travels to Milwaukee to give remarks on “progress replacing lead pipes and creating good-paying jobs,” according to the announcement.

Casey, who is a longtime friend of Biden’s, is in a tight race against Republican Dave McCormick and losing a Democratic-held seat could cost the party control of the Senate.

A recent AARP poll found Casey up by 4 points in his reelection bid over McCormick. In the survey, the incumbent received 49 percent support compared to his Republican challenger’s 45 percent. About 6 percent of respondents said they were still undecided.

In an average of Pennsylvania polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Casey has 47.7 percent support compared to McCormick’s 44 percent.

Former President Obama is also scheduled to be in Pennsylvania next week to campaign for Vice President Harris. The campaign announced Friday that Obama will make a battleground state swing to boost her bid.

Biden campaigned with Harris last month in Pennsylvania to mark Labor Day. Their first joint rally, after the president announced he would bow out of the race and endorse Harris, was in August in Maryland.
